Dear Neighbors and Friends — 

As Fall begins and our children return to school, it’s a good time to reflect on where our Village is today—and where we are headed. 

Brookville is a very special place, and protecting its character while responsibly planning for its future remains at the heart of everything we do. So this issue highlights several important developments that reflect this commitment. 

 After years of uncertainty, Tam has finally found a path forward that preserves the property as open space and as a private, members-only, golf club. As detailed on page 3, Tam has been acquired by Armchair Collective, which plans to renovate the historic course and return it to operation as a world-class private golf facility. This is welcome news. 

The preservation of this significant property means that land that might otherwise have been lost to residential development will now remain as open space and continue to be an important part of the character of our community. We are also moving forward with another important investment in Brookville’s future: our new Municipal Complex. After years of planning, the project is now becoming a reality. The new facility will bring our Village Hall, Police Department, Courts and Community together in a modern, permanent home. The transformation taking place at the site is exciting to see, and we look forward to sharing its progress with you. (See pg. 6/7 for more details.) 

At the same time, the Brookville Nature Park continues to be a beautiful and welcoming place for residents and visitors. The park is already an important community asset, and we have ambitious plans for its future. Working hand in hand with the Federal Parklands, our goal is to thoughtfully enhance the property while preserving the natural character that makes it so special, including walking trails, horse trails, and more locations to sit and enjoy nature. 

It’s hard to imagine that the fall and winter months are right around the corner. With that thought in mind, please make sure your property is ready for the colder months ahead. Repair fences and gates, trim dead or overgrown branches, remove weak limbs that could become hazardous, and clean gutters and drains. These simple steps help keep our Village safe, attractive, and well cared for. 

While summer may be winding down, hurricane season is not officially over until November 30th. Here on Long Island, some of the most damaging storms have occurred later in the season. Maintaining the beauty and safety of Brookville is not just the responsibility of Village government. It is a shared responsibility. That’s why now is the time to make sure your emergency supplies are up to date, your generator is ready if you have one, and you know what you would do in the event of a severe storm or extended power outage. With our children back in school, please take extra care on our roads. Slow down, stay alert, and be especially mindful of children walking, biking, or getting on and off school buses. 

As we move into a new season, there is much to be proud of and much to look forward to. From preserving treasured open space, to building a new home for our Village government, to caring for our park and our individual properties, we are investing in Brookville while protecting the qualities that make it such a wonderful place to live. Thank you for your continued support, your cooperation, and—most importantly— your pride in our Village.
