The Village has an Emergency Alert Notification System for Instant Alerts and time-sensitive messages to keep residents abreast with up to the minute information pertaining to everything from traffic accidents, road closures, storm warnings etc. Please sign up if you haven't already done so. This system is only as good as the phone numbers and addresses that support the database. There is a signup form in the newsletter that you can fill out and mail in or you can use the green button CodeRED to access the signup online link.
Although we cannot prevent hurricanes and other natural disasters, we can certainly prepare for them.
If you are prepared with food (items that require no refrigeration, preparation or cooking and little or no water) and water (1 gal. of water per person per day for at least 5 days), an emergency can be an inconvenience instead of a disaster.
Everyone has a personal responsibility to be prepared. Creating an emergency plan ahead of time for you and your family will help you stay organized if a hurricane strikes or any other disaster for that matter.
Your emergency plan should include a communication system, disaster supply kit, and an alternate meeting place if your home becomes unsafe. Another must have is a GO-KIT (a dedicated bag or container stocked with enough supplies for everyone in your household for five (5) days).
Click on the green Emergency Preparedness button for important information, detailed supply lists, nearby hurricane shelter locations and links to other websites that may be helpful to you.
